Yes. Could you perhaps add a comment in transport.c? Right now it says something like "some devices crash their internal firmware when the status is requested after a halt" but "some devices" is so vague. In the IDE code there are things meant for certain types of RLL disks, very obsolete, but without comments it is difficult to judge for others whether something applied twelve years ago or yesterday, and whether it applies to lots of devices or just to a single broken model. Probably at some point in the future people will want to clean up some stuff in the usb code and will want to know why these customized things are required.
