Hmm, could you elaborate?  Presumably USB works without the docking
station (ports on the laptop).  Is that docking station adding more
ports?  With a hub, or just wiring up more of the existing HC ports?
Which kernel(s)?

I certainly do think that such errors shouldn't recur.
