Hi! I am looking for a USB passthrough sniffer. I have examined the various software USB sniffers available, but they all seem to only be designed for sniffing the packet flow between a device and the PC. I am looking for a sniffer that can sniff the packet flow between a device and a separate USB host. The PC would only run the sniffer; it would simply log and regenerate packets, completely transparent to the connection between the device and its host.
Does software like this exist? It would be something like the serial port sniffers of old: using two ports on the PC to capture data, regenerating that data to send to the other side, so that the connection is completely transparent to the devices under test. The specific application is for PlayStation 2, not PC. I am trying to reverse the protocol for an obscure controller that only works when connected to a certain game. When the controller's plugged into a PC, it shows up as a standard HID device, but does not work. I want to observe the data flow between the PS2 and the controller, without modifying it in any way. If curious, it's the Para Para Paradise controller for that game on the Japanese PS2. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
