Hi.
I have a Lacie USB2.0 120GB Hard disk. It works fine on a USB1.1 port but causes problems when used on a USB2.0 port.
This is with a freshly compiled 2.4.21-pre3-ac1 kernel.
Mounting the disk is no problem and ls ing and cd ing work fine. However when you copy large files from it, it will randomly cause a segfault and copying will stop. Often another copy process can be started and that may or may not succeed without segfaulting. The disk can not be unmounted after this as you get a "disk is busy". Eventually, the kernel will hang altogether and only a hard-reset will restart the system.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Steve
