Not really.  I think it's pretty common to have two applications (or
threads, or whatever) opening on one port.  One doing the reading, and
one doing the writing.  Anyway, it doesn't really matter.

I'd like to see what the patch actually looks like, and the 64bit
thunking layer, before making up my mind.
