Are you sure that your devices don't just handle READ_6 and SENSE_6 ok?

Because there is no merge error that I can see: the patch you sent is
still there in the same form, and the "use_10_for_XX" values are just
_wrong_ (both zero, should be both one). I made it work by just forcing
them to 1 at the places they were tested.

I'll add a few more printk's to see what gets set and what gets cleared.
