The dmesg output you posted starts some time after you plugged in the Nikon camera. Can you include everything from the time that usb-storage was loaded? If this is too large to be retained in the kernel log buffer, you can capture the debugging messages by adding a line to /etc/syslog.conf saying something like kern.* /var/log/kernel.log and sending a SIGHUP to syslogd. Also, can you post the result of "lsusb -v" or the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices with the camera plugged in? And do you have any URLs for previous occasions when this problem was reported?
