Basically, if I load ehci-hcd into my kernel, and plug ANY USB devices in, the computer completely hangs. (No magic sysrq keys, no kernel panic messages, no indication at all that the system is about to go to the great big bitbucket in the sky.)
Note that if I don't load ehci-hcd, I can use USB 1[.1] devices fine. I can use USB 2 devices under windows. I can use USB 2 devices under linux IF they are plugged into a USB 1.1 hub. I cannot use any USB 2 devices under linux in USB 2.0 mode.
This problem has been going on as long as I can remember, and is still present in kernel 2.6.1, which I am currently using.
lspci says this about my USB hardware: 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB USB (Hub #1) (rev 01) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB USB (Hub #2) (rev 01) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB USB (Hub #3) (rev 01) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB USB EHCI Controller (rev 01)
Anybody have any suggestions?
TIA --Alex
