Ok, I knew it would be a painful test, but, nevertheless, decided to
repeat it. So, plugged in,
downloaded - ok (as usual)
list first time - ok (as usual under 2.4, but, I think, last time under
                        2.6 already the first list lead to the lock-up)
list second time - ok (!!! never happened before!)
3rd, 4th,... - ok!
delete all - ok (as usual)

Ok, then - switched off (yes, equivalent to unplug in your question)

list - hang with the same back-trace...

So, 1) it looks much better now in that it still works after a list, but
2) doesn't survive a re-plug...
