I have tried both kernels 2.4.25 and 2.6.5 and got the same results; and reaching the end of my tether. I am trying to get a 2.0 Hi-speed harddisk detected but it fails (regardless of what I do). The usb-disk is detected properly under Windows (so it is not a hardware fault).
You didn't describe the actual problem - what happens when you plug the device in?
I have attached the output of lspci, lsusb and cat proc/bus/usb/devices. Please copy me on any responses as I am not subscribed to the list.
From this output, I don't see anything that might resemble a USB hard disk. All I see is a series of standard host controllers plus a logitech camera. Are you sure the device was connected and powered up when you captured this output?
It may also be worth checking that you have EHCI compiled into the kernel, and loaded if its a module.
