Hi, my USB camera used to work with kernel 2.6.6. Now in 2.6.7-rc2 I can't mount it anymore. I checked with 2.6.7-rc1 and the problem is there, too.
After plugging the camera in, "cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" hangs: root 10795 0.0 0.0 3584 392 pts/5 D 17:43 0:00 cat /proc/bus/usb/devices When shutting down, the "rmmod ohci_hcd" hangs. Alt-SysRq still works, and also the console still works. With 2.6.6 I got this in /proc/bus/usb/devices: T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 4 B: Alloc= 27/900 us ( 3%), #Int= 3, #Iso= 0 D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 2.06 S: Manufacturer=Linux 2.6.6 ohci_hcd S: Product=Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] AMD-756 [Viper] USB S: SerialNumber=0000:00:07.4 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) May 30 17:32:37 elmicha usb-storage: bus_reset called As suggested by Alan Stern on linux-usb-user, I applied the usb-dell-patch-3 from <http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-devel&m=108593392122076&q=raw>. The problem remains the same. The new log files are at <http://web536.server2.web4a.de/kram/messages_usb_with_patch.txt> (18k) and <http://web536.server2.web4a.de/kram/messages_with_patch.txt> (92k). I'm using Gentoo and hotplug-20040401. The machine has a AMD-751/756 chipset. I made sure that the camera still works in 2.6.6. Once when I rebooted (2.6.7-rc2), cupsd did not start. I'm loading the usblp module although the printer is turned off. Also I removed all USB plugs, rebooted and only plugged the camera in: still the same. What could I try now? Do you need more info?
