I suspect the problem is an incompatibility between the adapter and the Cuecat; probably the adapter expects either a keyboard or a mouse to be plugged in but the Cuecat doesn't quite behave like either one. What happens if you use the adapter/Cuecat combination with your regular computer's USB port?
