Yes, usb video class(VDC) is completely different from the current 
webcams,which are
vendor-specific. As Oliver recommended, you can find many webcams supported by 
Linux. But I will
recommend you the OV511/OV518 series.As far as I know, many products uses these 
chipsets,one of
them is the WebEye,which is very cheap.
