I removed all the copyright lines from the original author, because it's a 
complete new driver.
I kept the version numbering though, because although it's a complete new one, 
it replaces an already existing one.

So, I would keep the old copyright out, anyway.
But you're right about the version number.
Maybe 1.0 would be better (1.0, because the driver is ready for production, 
and no beta-ware)
