Try to give "chmod 755 /dev/ttyUSB0" and it should work.

According with Documentation/usb/usb-serial.txt
/dev/ttyUSB0 should be c 188 0.

crw-r-----  1 fbl fbl 188, 0 2005-05-02 13:56 /dev/ttyUSB0

I believe that's correct.
