As far as I know, yes you were mistaken. I understand that current kernels with both OpenZaurus and Gumstix enable that, and I'm sure I'd have heard of problems if it worked (since I did hear success reports). There are some issues with interop for Linux 2.4 kernels though. Somehow I never seem to make time to update "usbnet" there, and the 2.4 kernels never had good support for devices that involve multiple configurations.
