There are some problems with compatibility of the OTi's cable with plain PL2303 cable, as noticed by Werner Tuchan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). Although it is claimed on some web pages that the cable is based on pl2303 chip, it turned out that it uses a familiar chip - OTi-6858 - USB To RS232 Bridge Controller. So i think it is somehow my fault that I did not check the cable sufficiently. I tested the patch by checking if the /dev/ttyUSB0 is created, and it is. I tried to communicate with the cable/phone with gammu phone manager, but I couldn't. I thought that may be the program's problem, but now I'm not sure. However, I'm quite sure that the chip which is present in the cable is somehow compatible with the pl2303 one, because applications that use a pl2303 protocol can communicate with the cable without any problems via original driver from OTi (eg. gammu, using fbuspl2303 connection type), but as far as I know the original driver is available only for windows. So I have doubts about merging my patch with the Linus' kernel tree. Maby it should be delayed till the problem is solved? Tomek
