As a rule, no.  The hardware signaling is different (I've even seen
bit-banging implementations, with real-time operating systems) and
the device model is too ... no bulk transfers.  Anything capable of
running Linux probably avoided going that rabid-cost-cutting route.

And specifically on the at91 chips -- no.
