So far we haven't settled on anything that is exactly correct.  That's the 
first consideration; only later should we worry about practicality or 
easiness.

That shouldn't make any difference to the essential issues.  So long as 
they are attached to the same host controller, that is.  Right now Linux 
does not support any means of synchronizing multiple controllers.
