Oliver's changes will prevent the device from being autosuspended, so resume won't be an issue. However it does leave open the question of what happens when the device is suspended for some other reason (like your entire system goes to sleep after half-an-hour of inactivity). Fortunately this isn't a pressing issue at the moment, and I'm inclined not to worry about it for now.
