Subject: [Bugme-new] [Bug 8135] New: Sitecom CN-103 USB to Printer cable
adapter doesn't work

http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8135

Summary: Sitecom CN-103 USB to Printer cable adapter doesn't work
    Kernel Version: 2.6.18.2
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
             Owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
         Submitter: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Distribution: Opensuse 10.2
Hardware Environment: normal x86 PC (Asus A7V880 Motherboard), Kyocera FS-600
Printer, Sitecom CN-103 USB to Printer Cable Adapter (product home page:
http://www.sitecom.com/product.php?productname=USB+to+printer+cable+%96+1.8m&productcode=CN-103&productid=30&subgroupid=20
)
Software Environment: CUPS 1.2.7, hpijs 1.7.1, vanilla kernel provided in the
opensuse 10.2 repositories

Problem Description:
When I plug in the adapter, it is being detected and the usblp kernel module is
loaded. hwinfo --usb says that it found a "Prolific IEEE-1284 Controller", so
everything looks good.
The printer works fine on the "real" parallel port, but it doesn't with the USB
Adapter. When i try to print a test page, i first have to wait for a few minutes
and then only the top 15% or so of the page will actually be printed (the rest
is left blank).

I have also tried this with the Sidux Live CD (2.6.20 kernel), but it behaves in
exactly the same way.
