Well, I didn't think I had any other USB devices to try out, but then I remembered a
USB CueCat packed away... so I unwrapped it and plugged it in; I figured at least the
LED will light up and the logs might say something positive.

No such luck... light stayed out, and the dmesg reports:
hub.c: port 1 connection change
hub.c: port 1, portstatus 101, change 1, 12 Mb/s
hub.c: port 1, portstatus 101, change 0, 12 Mb/s
hub.c: port 1 of hub 1 not reset yet, waiting 10ms

The last 2 lines above repeated probably 10-12 times, but waiting 200ms instead of
10ms after the second time. Then:
hub.c: port 1 of hub 1 not enabled, trying reset again...
hub.c: Cannot enable port 1 of hub 1, disabling port.
hub.c: Maybe the USB cable is bad?

So... obviously this is a problem either with my hardware or with the UHCI driver just
not liking my hardware (I tried both UHCI drivers).

This only happens with one port-- the other apparently does nothing. But, when I load
the module, it does detect 2 ports, UHCI at 0x6300 and IRQ 11, and it detects the main
device as a Root Hub. However, when I load the alternate UHCI driver I get, as I
mentioned before, a message that says:
uhci: host controller halted, very bad

So from here I don't know where to go. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
--Mike
