I've seen something similar with my Logitech Optical WheelMouse+ or
whatever its called. Unfortunately, I'm at work and the mouse is at
home, so I don't have the model number handy. (The one that is weirdly
shaped for your hand and has a thumb button.) Previous to 2.4.10 I had
it running under X with the NetMousePS/2 driver and all 6 buttons were
working. (It was fun to map the thumb button to misc functions in X.)
After 2.4.10, I could move diagonally up and right, but any another
movement would plunge the pointer back into the left bottom corner.

Switching to the IMPS/2 mouse driver worked, but I lost the thumb button
that way.

Seems to be a similar symptoms as you're seeing.

As Vojtech suggested, I'll recompile with HID debugging and get back to
the list, but I just wanted to throw a "me too, kinda" out there.
