Hi,

I am confused about the current status of the driver for Alcatel Speed Touch
for Linux 2.4.x kernels with SMP.

The page http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/faq.html#q8 (2001) tells me
that
it will never work:

"Under kernel version 2.4.2, SMP support MUST be disabled. It just won't
work. There a few bugs in the USB subsystem that will prevent this from
ever working correctly."

But, the HowTo page
http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/DSL-HOWTO/speedtouchusb.html

provides a link to a patch dated 1st April 2001.

I am confused.......
