I don't think you can have one device that does both functions well. For video converencing you probably want to look at Philips webcams, see http://www.linux-usb.org, and maybe other webcams will work for you as well, but don't even try to get IBM cameras - it's a miracle that they work at all :-) For still photos you want a decent digital camera. I have Canon PowerShot S100, works great and is supported in Linux for ages. You don't want to use a webcam for still photos because a webcam has very bad resolution, very cheap sensors and no image processing built in, so the quality of your pictures will be unacceptable on many accounts. There is simply no good reason to save $100-$150 only to suffer for many years. Dmitri
