I am attempting to use the generic USB serial driver to talk to a tripp lite 
UPS.
  I am using devfs.
  After I insmod usbserial vendor=0x09ae product=0x001 there is nothing in 
/dev/usb.
  I'm using kernel 2.4.17 on an x86 box.  My motherboard is an intel 
se440bx-2.  Distribution is Debian unstable.
