I did - no reply. I think I've sorted it now anyway - see my other mail.

I'd have thought the driver should be included in the kernel. There may have
been problems with Alcatel's binary management porgram which can't be
distributed but it is a userspace program you can get seperately and
relatively easily so shouldn't stop the driver being added. The driver does
need something called sarlib by the same author. It also needs pppoatm which
also wasn't in the kernel at the last check but probably should be. How
difficult would it be to get all this included?
