Well, I bought a USB 2.0 external mass storage device for a back up,
and so far have partitioned it in the same fashion as the two drives I
want to back up. My intention is to use a script to mirror the
structure and content of my present two drives on this large external
device, but I'm very uncertain as to just how to set it up.

There are 12 partitions on one drive and one on another that I want to
back up. while I could mount all 13 partitions by creating mount
points under /mnt and mirror each partition separately, I would rather
simply mount the backup drive as a whole and then create a script that
would backup everything to one mount point, but I don't know how to do
it.
