I've got a brother HL-1440 printer with USB port connected to a redhat linux bos with a 2.4.18 kernel.
when i reboot the computer and the printer is in powersave mode, the printer is not detected by the usb subsystem. insmod printer does not cause a scan of the usb bus. the only way to make the printer work is to - pus the reset button to wake the printer up - unplug the usb cable from the server or printer - plug the cable in the printer or server. then the printer is detected and everything is fine. but since unplugging the cables is cumbersone (move the computer or printer) the computer ius booted at least once a day (in the morning), but the printer is never tunred off (trhe powerswitch is not easily accessible) i would like to change the situation. isn't there something availbe in the USB protocoll like "wake up all devices on the bus" and if such a protocoll element exists, how can it be issued by a linux USB driver? _______________________________________________________________ Don't miss the 2002 Sprint PCS Application Developer's Conference August 25-28 in Las Vegas -- http://devcon.sprintpcs.com/adp/index.cfm _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
