Hello list,

The C-1010 saga continues...
I am now running 2.4.19-rc1. I have USB working now...but...
It only works when ACPI has been compiled into the kernel and PCMCIA is
switched off. I can try to turn on pcmcia but then when yenta_socket is
loaded the whole thing hangs, with a socket_status: 300000 (or there
abouts)...nice. yenta_socket just does not seem to like ACPI at all,
USB does. So now I have to choose between having PCMCIA or USB.
The funny thing is lspci (see further down below) reports I have two USB
controllers. I have two sockets at the back of this laptop, so that'd
sort of make sense, but when I plug something into both sockets (my
mouse and my handydrive) they both appear on the same controller. That
tells me that something's not right. Why would a manufacturer supply
two buses when only one is attached to the outside sockets?

So what's the story here? Is Linux detecting a USB controller too many?
