Hello, I have a Thinkpad T23 with dual boot RH 7.3/Windows XP. It comes with 2 USB ports but has the capacities of using USB 1.1. So I bought an Adaptec USB2Connect cardbus adapter and attached it (via the PC card slot) to a BUSLINK USB 2.0 external hard drive. Windows XP works fine with this configuration. Linux also works but the thinkpad refuses to shutdown properly from linux.
It hangs after the following error messages: stopping pcmcia:usb.c: USB disconnect on device 1 usb_ohci.c: bogus NDP=255 for OHCI usb-03:001 rereads as NDP:255 USB HC TakeOver failed USB bus deregistered USB disconnect on device 1 USB Takeover faild USB bus 5 deregistered USB disconnect on device 1. And it just hangs after that. I have to do an unclean poweroff. On reboot, it insists on an unclean file system and I have to run fsck on it. I am using kernel 2.4.18-5 (the latest release).
