Hi All,

Can anyone help me with information and/or links on how to
install a USB modem in linux.
The make of my modem is Conexant Systems,(Rockwell) Incorporated, V.90
modem,,, Marketed by D-Link.. My Linux Box RH7.2 kernel version 2.4.7 is
able to detect the MODEM. In
the KDE menus, "preferences/information/USB-Devices", i can see the
description for my modem, it displays all the parameters, including
vendor_id, product_id etc. But i am not able to install the modem. I did
the following
1. mkdir /dev/usb
2.mknod /dev/usb/ttyACM0 c 166 0
3.Went to internet/internet dialup configuration/ in the KDE menus.
4.It searches, but does not detect my modem, so i forcibly give the path as
"/dev/usb/ttyACM0"
5.After this when i try to dial, i get the following messages.
"cannot open /dev/usb/ttyACM0: Device or resource busy
     ERROR: UNABLE TO INITIALIZE MODEM"

can someone help me with this.

thanks in advance

Amresh Mahapatra
