-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 HI everybody, I am having problem in "seeing" the partition table of CompactFlash Reader-Writer CYPRESS (TEC) SM-CF:
I am using RedHat 7.3 (kernel 2.4.18-3 not upgraded, not patched, just out of the box) with Device Firmware 0.76 Model Name CRV6UCS (this is a clone of the original device, manufactured by www.safeway.to which is a very cheap brand of products "designed" in the netherlands). I am using a KODAK CompaqFlash 16MB, testing on two laptop machines of different brands. The same. The devices looks perfectly recognized, only I cannot use it! I found written on [EMAIL PROTECTED]'s site the following (and he confirmed that it should work out of the box): CYPRESS (TEC) SM-CF This is my favorite one. I got one with firmware 0.76. Worked out of box with Red Hat 7.3 as Travel Flash but fast as Phison. Reasonable speed, cheap, both SM and CF. The only disadvantage is that it does not have USB B plug but some non-standard one so you need to carry cable as well. My model name is CR-V6-UCS (or CRV6UCS). I simply cannot mount any partition. Actually I cannot even see that a partition is present ! if I do "fdisk /dev/sda" I get: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 sda : READ CAPACITY failed. sda : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08 Current sd00:00: sense key Not Ready sda : block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size 1GB. sda: Write Protect is off I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0 unable to read partition tablesda : READ CAPACITY failed. sda : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08 Current sd00:00: sense key Not Ready sda : block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size 1GB. sda: Write Protect is off I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0 unable to read partition table I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0 I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0 I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0 !!!@#$%^&*()(*^$######!!!! -Looking from windows it appears as a single, primary, FAT partition..... I apologize if something has already being told about a similar problem, but I have not found it ! I found: http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=737 Here are some infos out of my proc filesystem and output of commands: lsmod: Module Size Used by Not tainted binfmt_misc 7556 1 autofs 12164 0 (autoclean) (unused) xircom_cb 8128 1 ds 8608 2 yenta_socket 12384 2 pcmcia_core 50752 0 [ds yenta_socket] ide-cd 30272 0 (autoclean) cdrom 32192 0 (autoclean) [ide-cd] usb-storage 58156 0 scsi_mod 108608 1 [usb-storage] usb-uhci 24484 0 (unused) usbcore 73152 1 [usb-storage usb-uhci] ext3 67136 1 jbd 49400 1 [ext3] /proc/bus/usb/devices: T: Bus=01 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2 B: Alloc= 0/900 us ( 0%), #Int= 0, #Iso= 0 D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1 P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 0.00 S: Product=USB UHCI-alt Root Hub S: SerialNumber=4000 C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr= 0mA I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=hub E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) But Actually Nothing changes. Best Regards, And Hope to hear something soon from some soul willing to help !!!
