-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a Belkin usb smartmedia reader/writer that I have just purchased.
I have managed to connect it up to my system and it is seen as /dev/sda by linux. At least it reports different things when a smartmedia card is inserted and when it is not. The problem comes when I try and mount /dev/sda. The card has been freshly formatted by my Digital Camera (Olympus C220 Zoom), but mount cannot automatically determine file type. Attempts to specify the type as either msdos or vfat (which is what I thought it should be) fail. I can't find any explanation of this part of the process in most of the howtos - - most assume it just works. The closest explanation is someone who has the same camera reporting that the camera doesn't use the correct identification strings and he has patched the usb-storage module to recognize his string. But I think that is not the problem here - the use of a separate reader/writer bypasses it. So what filesystem should I see? - -- Alan Chandler [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9n++LuFHxcV2FFoIRAkUoAJ9ugdCB9AWDge+MSBCvJODySkVP3gCglzTL Gs1zx5zXqX0vtM0U0tu2rtY= =GdbR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
