Yeah, the usb serial core has some problems lately :)
Try not enabling the generic driver, that seems to help out.  I don't
think the LED would ever work for this device.

As for your problems, you should try contacting the person who modified
that firmware to work for your device.  It was reverse engineered based
on the keyspan firmware, and seems to work for some people, and not
others.

In the end, if you really want to have a working usb to serial device on
Linux, I'd recommend buying a different device :)
