I've put together some scripts that make usb-storage hotplug-devices easy to use for a normal desktop user. Generic Usb-1, usb-2 devices pop onto the desktop and the desktop icons change to indicate whether a generic device has anything connected to it.
Thanks to all the people on this list for answering the questions I've posed in the past. If you are interested in providing your desktop users with such an interface, you can find my scripts and a description of how they work on my webpage: http://users.actrix.co.nz/michael/usbmount.html You probably need to be confortable with shell scripting to install them, especially if you're not running Redhat (I using a customised version of Redhat 7.2). GNU Lessor-license with all the usual cautions. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net emial is sponsored by: Influence the future of Java(TM) technology.
