Ok, I've asked this a couple of times and haven't seen much in the way
of a response but I thought I'd try again. Basically, I'm trying to get
a USB CDR drive running in Linux. I've had it working in the past, but
can't remember the steps I took to make it work. I have a feeling that
what I need to do is get the module loading order correct.
I'm running Redhat 7.2 with the stock 2.4.18-18 kernel. When I turn
the USB drive on, dmesg gives me this:

hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 6
usb.c: USB device 6 (vend/prod 0x59f/0xa602) is not claimed by any
active driver.
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
usb.c: registered new driver usb-storage
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured
USB Mass Storage device found at 6
USB Mass Storage support registered.

The usb-storage and scsi_mod modules are both loaded automatically. The
drive is listed in /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/0, but is NOT listed in
/proc/scsi/scsi and is thus not available at any of the /dev/sd*
devices. If I load sr_mod, nothing changes. If I load sr_mod and THEN
turn the drive on it does the same thing. The only SCSI device listed
is my tape drive which is being accessed via the ide-scsi module.
Everything I've been able to find and read seem to imply that the scsi
device attachment is automatic and is assumed that it will happen.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can check and/or do to get this drive
online? It's driving me crazy at this point.
