Hello everyone, I'm new to the list so if this post may have been answered,
corrected by anyone, could you just point me toward the archive. With that said, here goes. Using the latest vender released kernels(Redhat 8) and lower, any usb modems connected will allow mgetty or any other getty for that matter to accept the login and start /bin/login or whatever you choose. But, the modem does not send out linefeeds. All the data keeps writting on over itself. The carriage return is there, but the lf is missing. This same kernel, same machine with a serial modem doesn't exhibit these issues. The modem is a Multitech MT5634ZBA-V90 and V92. I had found a posting in the mgetty archives and the author of mgetty said it may have been a bug in the USB modem driver (in the part of the tty layer that isn't used for the typical dial-to-ISP case). I can get this problem to duplicate across numerous machines and installs. If I use the modems in minicom, there is no problem transmitting and characters or control codes(i.e. control M or control J). Thanks in advanced for any help or light into a solution.
