Before using cdrecord you need to get the drive recognised as a SCSI device. Read the documentation in the linux-usb site, if you can compile a kernel you can probably get a USB drive going. Your drive will probably appear as /dev/sda0 or something like that. When you've done that read the CD-Writing HOWTO, it's at http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/CD-Writing-HOWTO.html It will take you through the rest of it (mkiofs, cdrecord) step by step. It does work (I burned 3 CDs yesterday:). > So, could anyone here tell me about the possibility to use that drive > with Linux? Success- and failure stories? I don't have that drive, but if it's marked as ok in the working devices list I'd say your chances are pretty good, especially with that 2.5 kernel. > My only wish is to use it to store files and data for backup, possibly > multisession on CD-R, but even that isn't a must and I have no special > desire to use it for music CD copying in case that makes it easier. Once you have it recognised you can do wahtever you like. 73, Ged. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
