Friends

I've round-and-round the lists/web to figure out how to get an eagletec/genesys logic
usb hard drive enclosure to work on RH7.2 system, but without success! I've tried all
the suggestions I can find, modular/monolithic kernel, this and that driver. Any
headway seems to result in:

ADIlab kernel: SCSI device sda: 9514261 512-byte hdwr sectors (4871 MB)
ADIlab kernel: sda: test WP failed, assume Write Enabled
ADIlab kernel: sda: unknown partition table

The drive is never assigned an /dev/sda-x device assignment and is not readable by
fdisk or dd.

I'm using the 2.4.20 kernel stock module:

UNUSUAL_DEV( 0x05e3, 0x0702, 0x0113, 0xffff,
"EagleTec",
"USB Storage Device",
US_SC_SCSI, US_PR_BULK, NULL, US_FL_FIX_INQUIRY),

The drive is obviously recognized by the usb system (correct configuration/size), the
enclosure works under windows and MacOSX. I'm thinking this is a problem with the SCSI
emulation, or something other than the usb subsystem.

Any ideas? (apart from buying a different external usb drive??)

Thanks!!
