I'm trying to use a USB Ethernet device on a RedHat 8.0 system. The pegasus
driver does support the device, however I receive "link not established check
cable" when configuring the interface.

Running dmesg reports:

usb.c: device 2 (0x67c/0x1001) is not claimed by any active driver

This is the ethernet adapter. Whats wierd is that dmesg also reports:

usb.c: registered new driver pegasus
divert: allocating divert_blk for eth0
pegasus.c: eth0 SpeedStream USB 10/100 Ethernet
parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP]
ohci1394: pci_module_init failed

The relevant lsmod returns:

pegasus 16116 1
usbcore 71680 1 [pegasus hid usb-ohci]

So it looks like the device is detected, the driver module is loaded, but the
driver is not bound to the device. What should I do? Would a newer kernel
(currently 2.4.18 something) help?
