Hi, I've been searching the WWW for a solution to my latest problem and stumbled across these two posting from this mailing list: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-users&m=102491834430867&w=2 http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-users&m=102329989526016&w=2 They are both six months old. The first is a lot more detailed and points to the second but I think that I'm having the same problem. It has been a longer time since I face-planted an OS (being a Linux user) but this one was a doozy. I had a lot of other crap open at the time. Live and learn! My set up seems to be pretty close to the first but I have a lot of stuff compiled in instead. I also boot off of /dev/sda4. The other difference seems to be the camera model: mine is a D-520 Zoom instead of the 700. I have a similar system: Dual Intel PII 400Mhz Super Micro motherboard w/ Intel 440BX chipset Mandrake 8.2 Kernel 2.4.20 (straight from Marcelo's tree) One thing to rule out is the other author's use of the JE alternate driver. I was using the original UHCI (Intel PIIX4, VIA,...) support. I also found this page: http://www.gingerbear.org/~esm/olympus/ but alas the link to the diagnosis of the problem is 404. This one even tells me which sanity check I have to comment out. http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-usb-users&m=101546129129136&w=2 Still searching 3 hours later...can someone point me to some more recent info on this please.
