Hello guys,

I'm having some problems getting my new camera to work. It is an
Olympus D-520 Zoom. I been pouring over the list and discovered that
there is a problem with some Olympus cameras. It seems to be some kind
of brain deadness in them that screws with the error checking. I've
heard that there is a patch to circumvent this problem at the expense of
blowing up any chance of using the USB bus for any other mass storage
needs. I have found a few broken links to the patch but have not
actually gotten to read anything of substance. I've found some patches
that seem to do it from reading them but the patches are always
recommended to solve different problems. Does anyone have any direct
experience with this type of camera. Does anyone know where the correct
patch is. Do Olympus cameras use two different OSes? Is that why some
work well and some are considered "very broken"?

The camera can still be returned for the next week so I guess what I'm
asking is should I take this one back and get a different one. I really
like the features and PRICE of this camera and really don't want to
return it. I would really appreciate it if someone that has one of
these can explain the problem to me (or point me to the correct post).
How are some of the other Olympus cameras. If I get a different camera
what kind can I get for about $200 dollars.

Any help solving this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Tres
