HI I'm trying to install an epson stylus photo 915 (usb only printer) on my notebook which is running suse 8.0. (no support anymore). Yesterday, I managed to get it to work using cups. In 'yast2' (suse's installation tool) there is a section 'misc' which contains an option for installing cups. (Why is this not contained in the 'printer' section?) Anyhow, yesterday, I booted my machine up again, and it didn't work anymore. I tried to re-install using yast2, but the printer wasn't recognized anymore. When I run 'usbview', an entry 'Storage' with manufacturer name 'epson' is listed, but it is displayed in red letters. I think this entry refers to the CF card which is inside the printer and which can be used to print photos directly from the camera. However, there is no entry "USB-Printer" as there was previously. What can I do to make my printer show up in usbview? I tried various things such as booting up the machine with the printer connected, unplugging and re-plugging the usb cabel, but non of them seem to have an effect. I hope someone can help. I'll add some diagnostic output below.
