When I plug my Apacer AP-CSCRU10 compact flash reader into my
linux-2.4.18 desktop, it works fine:

Mar 17 11:37:24 rave kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/2, assigned
device number 5
Mar 17 11:37:27 rave /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup usb-storage for USB product
7c4/a109/8000

But when I do it on my linux-2.4.18 MIPS embedded system, it doesn't
recognize it as usb-storage:

  Manufacturer: DataFab Systems Inc.
  Product: USB CF+SM
  SerialNumber: DD1B6F5C1B
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x7c4/0xa109) is not claimed by any active driver.

and:

  T: Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
  D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
  P: Vendor=07c4 ProdID=a109 Rev=80.00
  S: Manufacturer=DataFab Systems Inc.
  S: Product=USB CF+SM
  S: SerialNumber=DD1B6F5C1B
  C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr=100mA
  I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
  E: Ad=01(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms
  E: Ad=82(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms

How can I tell my kernel that this is a usb-storage device? It seems
absurd to me that I should have to... after all, isn't that the point
of usb-storage compliance?

Thanks,
Dave
