Hi,

I'm having problems with my USB-based DVD/CD Burner. Any experience with
similar issues getting similar working, is much appreciated.

I have an External USB Ricoh MP5125A DVD+RW/+R (DVD and CD Burner), by
Ikebana (i.e., Ikebana made the ATAPI Burner into an external USB 2.0
one). I have RedHat 8.0, and I can only get it to show up as a
"USB-Storage" device.

I can't even get it working as a general CDROM!

I enabled USB Mass Storage debugging, and I get this from 'dmesg':

I'm clueless, I've never gotten a USB mass storage devices working in
Linux. I've tried the stock kernel with Redhat 8.0, as well as 2.4.20
downloaded from kernel.org, with SCSI emulation, SCSI disk, SCSI CDROM,
USB, USBDevFS, and USB Mass Storage support enabled.....

I've read reports that the Ricoh MP5125A (the IDE/ATAPI version of the
drive, non-USB) works fine.

I just want to at least get it working as a READABLE CDROM drive. The
Writing portion, can be dealt separately if needed.

Google doesn't give any help, just general USB and general CD Writing,
but not both. HELP!

Thanks.
