I also tried to set it up via a loop-device like this...

losetup -o 16384 /dev/loop0 /dev/sdb
mount -t vfat /dev/loop0 /mnt/camera


...BUT: this just gives an io error.....perhaps it has something to 
do with it that i'm also not able to dd on the sdb device...just on 
the sg via sg_dd :-(   
but i'm not able to setup the loop-device on that sg device :-(

it seems like for the first request by linux the camera acts like the 
mbr stuff would be in sector 0 , but it just isn't there (but 16384 
bytes behind) and then on the following requests can be found 
anymore .....

...but can anybody tell me why i am not able to use /dev/sdb , but on 
the otherhand /dev/sg3 works very well (except for my use ;-)....
