I am currently running Red Hat 7.2 with the 2.4.20-18 kernel. I have a Iogear Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI card (Model: GIC220U) attached to a Maxtor 250GB 5000XT USB hard drive. I am seeing poor I/O speed of 4 to 5 MB sec when performing a local file copy. I have the ehci-hcd & usb-storage modules loaded for USB 2.0. Is there anything else I can do to improve the I/O speed? Any help would be appreciated..
