A few months ago, i bought a Mustek BearPaw 1200F Scanner. Under Win 2000 the scanner functions perfect. But with Linux, i have a problem.
After many system changes i have no more ideas. Maybe one of you can help me.
My System: AOpen AK72 Board with VIA (USB) Chipset. SuSe Linux 8.1 Kernel 2.4.19-4GB USB-Driver: usb-uhci
With this Kernel the System hangs at startup for a few Minutes with the syslog message:
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
This is in my opinion the main problem.
After a lot of system changes (like updating the usblib) the sane-find-scanner program shows me:
found USB scanner (vendor=0x055f, product=0x0010) at /dev/usb/scanner0 found USB scanner (vendor=0x055f, product=0x0010) at /dev/usbscanner
but the command:
SANE_DEBUG_MA1509=255 scanimage -L
shows me:
[ma1509] attach: sending TEST_UNIT_READY
[ma1509] ma1509_cmd: fd=0, cmd=0x40364790, data=0xbfffa9d4, data_size=4
[ma1509] ma1509_cmd: cmd = 03 01 01 00 00 00 04 00
[ma1509] ma1509_cmd: sanei_usb_write_bulk returned Error during device I/O (size = 0, expected 8)
This is no sane problem, cause the first command sent to the scanner goes wrong.
Then i tried the kernel 2.3.22 and 2.3.23pre3
The syslog shows me still usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout, but the hang time went away.
The kernel is compiled with no ACPI and no APIC, cause these modules don't tolerate with some usb chipsets (i found on google)
These both kernel detect the usb device at boot time and the 2.3.23pre4 loads the scanner-modul scanner.c. But the timeout message still appears and scanimage fails.
this ist the status quo and i have no more ideas .
Maybe one of you can help me...
thx Frank
PS: this ist the only usb-device with problems. My Sony digitalcam and my memorycard-reader act like they should.
