Oh come on. That's just not true. Don't spred rumors when you do not have facts. I've used ehci on a 64 bit box. I've use ehci on a big endian box. Both worked just fine with a 2.6 kernel. His error looks like a pci interrupt routing issue, not a USB specific issue.
